"A Celebration" video was shot in this jail and the film "In the name of the father" about I.R.A. too.
Leading figures in every rebellion against British rule since 1798 are assiociated with Kilmainham Goal and,
for many Irish people, their imprisonment or death represents the idea of freedom achieved through sacrifice.
Kilmainham has therefore become a potent blend of fact and symbol.
